3 Oak

Information for 3 Oak students and parents.

A homework book will be sent home on Thursdays. The homework menu will be sent out at the beginning of each term. The homework book will need to be returned with the completed homework on the dates specified on the homework menu. Spelling tests will take place on Fridays. Dojos will be given for completed homework.

As you are aware there is a minimum expectation that children read three times a week at home; to support the reading that they do at school. More than three reads would be great! We ask that children read books, newspapers, magazines etc. and we would like this to be recorded in their reading diaries. Reading is essential for a child’s development and children who read for enjoyment regularly, not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures. Learning to read is about listening and understanding as well as working out what’s printed on the page. Reading records will be collected in and checked on Thursdays and children will be rewarded with Dojos if they complete their three reads.

PE days for 3 Oak will be on Wednesday (indoor) and Monday (outdoor) this term. This may change due to such things as the weather so we would be very grateful if you could bring your PE kit on a Monday and leave it until Friday. Please ensure earrings are removed on PE days.

We hope your child has a happy and successful year in year 3.

Best Wishes
