This term our topic is Wars of Our World. During this topic, the children will be learning about World War 1 and World War 2 across the curriculum.

 

Important Information:

 

PE

4 Holly will have indoor PE every Tuesday and outdoor PE every Friday (weather permitting). Please can all children have their PE kits with them everyday incase changes to the timetable are essential.

 

Homework

Every week the children can choose to complete the piece of homework they wish from the homework menu. One piece of homework is due every week on the following dates:

1st Half Term - 25.9.18    2.10.18    9.10.18    16.10.18

2nd Half Term - 6.11.18    13.11.18    20.11.18    27.11.18

 

Spellings

Every week, the children will receive 18 spelling words to learn. These consist of 6 Core, 6 Extra and 6 Challenge words. The children will be tested on these words every Friday and dojos will be awarded accordingly.

 

Home Reading

The children are asked to read at home at least 3 times a week and have an adult fill in their home reading records. Dojos will be awarded for their efforts.

 

 

Times Tables

Learning the times tables is a big focus in Year 4. By the end of Year 4, all children are suppose to know all the time tables up to 12x12. We will have much practise time in class but we also ask that the children practise these at home as well.

Wars of Our World

As part of our topic this term, we have been learning about WW1. The children have been busy creating trenches as part of their homework. We have had some fantastic creations made of lego as well as more natural materials such as dirt and straw.
