Story of the Week - The Runaway Pancake

This week our story of the week is The Runaway Pancake to link in with pancake day!

We will be reading this to the children and thinking about the beginning, middle and end of the story

Our words of the week will be:

wafted, rumbled, scared, quickly, protect

Rhyme of the Week - Mix a Pancake

In maths this week we are going to be continuing to focus upon counting objects

We will be showing a line of objects, touching them one at a time, counting and naming them.

For example - we might have a line of cars and touch them one at a time and count them by saying 1 car, 2 cars, 3 cars, 4 cars, 5 cars.

We are going to continue with recognition of numbers 1-6 and introduce the number 7.

In phonics we are going to be thinking about the different sounds we can make with our voices - for example - long sounds and short sounds, different volumes and different pitch (high and low sounds)

Invitations to play this week will include  The Enormous Pancake small world tray and making pancakes in the playdough.  We will be encouraging the children to have a go throwing and catching a large ball.

We will continue to observe our eggs in the bug hotel and talk about looking after living things - keep an eye on the main Nursery page for any updates!
