Welcome to 4 Holly

Class Teacher: Mrs J Grinhaff

Teaching Assistant: Mrs F Heaney

Important Information:

PE

In 4 Holly our PE lessons will usually be on Tuesdays and Fridays. However, it would be very helpful if the children could have their PE kits in school everyday incase our timetable has to change for some reason.

Homework

Each week, the children will receive one piece of Maths homework and one piece of English homework. These will usually be linked to what they have been learning about in class that week or they may be linked to particular skills the children need to practise. Each half-term, the children may also receive a creative homework task linked to our topic.

Homework will be given out each Friday and is due back the following Wednesday. The children will be awared with dojos for completing their homework. If your child is having trouble completing the homework, please don't hesitate to contact me and additional instruction and support will be given.

Spellings

As part of the children's weekly homework, they will receive spellings to learn. These will be put into their homework books on a Friday and the children will be tested on them the following Friday.

Home Reading

We ask that all children read at home at least 3 times per week and have their reading  record signed by an adult. The children then need to bring their reading records to school every Friday to be checked and dojos will be awarded for their efforts.

Aztecs

This term we will be learning about the Aztecs. This will include when their society existed, where they lived and what their culture was like.

Times Tables

Learning the times tables is a big focus in Year 4. By the end of Year 4, all children are suppose to know all the time tables up to 12x12. We will have much practise time in class but we also ask that the children practise these at home as well.

Please use the links below to practise the times tables using games.
