This week is World Nursery Rhyme Week.
We will be focusing upon 5 different nursery rhymes.
1) 5 Currant Buns
2) Humpty Dumpty
3) A Sailor Went to Sea
4) I'm a Little Teapot
5) Round and Round the Garden
We will be sharing the words with you and would love for you to sing the songs with your children at home. Please feel free to share videos and photos of you and your children singing the songs on Tapestry!
In Phonics we are going to be singing the Nursery Rhymes. We will be making them even more interesting with added vocal sounds and actions - we may even add instruments into the mix!
We are also introducing oral blending this week. This is a key skill in learning to read.
We will be playing games where children have to follow the instructions.
Adults might ask the children to j-u-m-p, to make a sound like a c-a-t or to touch their ch-ee-k. This is a game you can play at home to help your child to develop further.
Number Song of the week
This week our song is going to be 5 Currant Buns. We will be thinking about simple number problems such as how many are left.
In small group time we are continuing to take steps towards counting objects with 1:1 correspondence with the children knowing that the final number we say when counting objects is the amount of objects there is. We are doing lots of modelling of counting objects and some children are attempting to count the objects themselves.
