Homework

A homework menu will be sent home at the start of every term. The dates for the homework to be handed in can be found at the bottom of the menu.

Spellings will be sent home on Friday to be tested the following Friday.

Home Reading

As you are aware there is an expectation that children read at least 3 times a week at home to support the reading that they do at school. We ask that children read books, newspapers, magazines etc. and we would like this to be recorded in their reading diaries. Reading is essential for a child’s development and children who read for enjoyment regularly, not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures. Learning to read is about listening and understanding as well as working out what’s printed on the page. Reading records will be collected in and checked on Fridays.

Times tables will be tested on Fridays. (See below)

Dojos will be earned for completion of homework, reading at home and accuracy in tests.

Autumn Term 1 - Multiplication facts for up to 6 x 4 (1st half of 4 x table)

PE

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday this term. This may change due to such things as the weather so we would be very grateful if you could bring your PE kit on a Monday and leave it until Friday. Please ensure earrings are removed on PE days.

We are looking forward to an exciting year with your children and hope they will enjoy their year in 3 Oak.

If you have any questions please come and see me.
