Welcome to 5 Holly! We are all looking forward to having a brilliant year in school, this year, with lots of great learning.
Here are a few bits and pieces about our weekly routines for your information.
Our topic for the Autumn Term is Viking Invaders and the children are looking forward to learning all about the myths surrounding the 'Vicious Vikings' and their motives for exploring and invading other countries. Later in the term, we will have a science-based topic about forces and also a short Christmas-based topic.
Our PE day is on Wednesday - PE kit should be worn in school for the whole day and should include tracksuit bottoms, joggers or leggings , as PE lessons will be taking place outdoors. School jumpers can be worn for PE lessons. At all times in school, long hair must now be tied back and only sports safety earrings can be worn for PE. Please note: Children need to be able to remove their own earrings as adults are not allowed to assist with these.
Homework for the first half of this term is to complete the daily Book Club reading task and to learn spellings and times tables for instant recall. Spellings are sent out each Thursday, to be tested on the following Friday. Your child will also get a weekly link to Ztype, which is a fun website on which to practise their weekly spellings. All children have passwords for Times Tables Rock Stars and Prodigy which are also really good websites to help them practise vital maths facts.
If you haven't already done so, please sign up for Class Dojo to keep up to date with what the children have been learning and how many dojo rewards they have received.
