Christmas Events

2nd December 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted that the elves have been into school this week and decorated our school beautifully – the children and staff have obviously been very good.

We are really looking forward to all of our Christmas Celebrations this year and want to make it as special as we can. The children will also be doing lots of lovely Christmas activities in class during December. Please read the information below about all our Christmas Events that are coming up here at school.

Christmas Card Post Box

We have put a Christmas Card Post Box in the Nursery, Reception, Infants and the Juniors.  The children are welcome to post their cards to be delivered to their friends and teachers in this box.  Please can you ensure that they have the child’s full name, year group and class on to help our post people get them to the right person.

Christmas Lunch

As you know, information has already been sent to you regarding Christmas Lunch Day and numbers have now been given to our cooks. Children can come to school wearing their Christmas Jumpers/ Non-uniform on their lunch day.

Christmas Parties

Each year group will be having a Christmas Party. We would like the children to come to school in their party clothes on their party day and wear them all day.

We would appreciate you helping with food for the parties. The children will be having a normal school dinner on their party day, but some treats for the parties would still be appreciated.  Please could you send the treats in with your child on their party day and they will be distributed for the children to share. We request that you make sure there are no nuts, strawberries or bananas in anything to ensure children with allergies are safe. School will provide drinks, cups and plates.  This year we are asking for;

  • the boys to bring in savoury items (for example sausage rolls, bite size items, crisps, scotch eggs)
  • the girls to bring in the desserts (for example cakes/ buns, biscuits, chocolates)

The Christmas parties will take place in the afternoons on the following dates. Please note, Nursery will have their party in the morning.

Christmas Carol Concerts

This year our Christmas Carol Concerts will be held outside in the school playgrounds to ensure we are all keeping safe in these current times. Concerts will be after school and will start at 3.20pm. If you decide that you and your child would like to join in, please collect your child as normal at home time and go to the playground where you will stand with and supervise your child. Concerts will last around 20-25minutes. Please note, concerts will be cancelled if there is bad weather and unfortunately we won’t be able to re-schedule them. Fingers crossed for dry weather.

The children are all working really hard practicing their carols; we hope you will be able to join us at this event.

Christmas Pantomime- Santa Live

On Wednesday 15th December at 1pm, we have organised for the school (Reception to Year 6) to watch the online Pantomime- Santa Live. Each class will stream the live interactive performance from their own classroom for the children to watch. We would also like the children to come to school in their Christmas Jumpers/ Non-uniform on this day too. Children are also welcome to bring in a small snack and drink for themselves to have during the performance. Please do not send in any nut, strawberry or banana snacks due to allergies.

Father Christmas will also be visiting each class in the morning to deliver presents for the children.

We are hoping to make this day as special as we can where the whole school can get into the Christmas spirit together.

Last Day of Term- Toy Day for Years 1-6

The last day of term will be Friday 17th December. All children (including Reception) can come to school in Christmas Jumpers/ Non-uniform on this day. For children in Years 1-6, it will also be Toy Day- children can bring a toy into school but we ask to not send in anything too expensive. We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support this term. You’ve helped to keep children and staff safe so we can get on with the job of educating our children. As always, I’m very proud of the Berkeley staff, who do their absolute best for the children. An amazing team.

I wish you all a very happy holiday and send best wishes for a prosperous New Year.
