wb 25.3.19

This week we will be using The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle to focus our learning. This will help us to begin to work on a new topic: Spring and New Life.

In phonics, we will learn the digraph er. We will  continue to work on reading longer two syllable words. We will also continue to use letters we already know to blend to read and segment to spell simple words and sentences.

In maths, we will continue with number bonds to ten - seeing that we can arrange sets of ten objects in different ways, but they always total ten. For example, we will be moving ten "seeds" between two areas - 2 and 8 make 10, but so does 6 and 4, 3 and 7... The role play has been transformed into a garden centre and children will be working with adults to use money, with a particular focus on being able to accurately count out 1p coins and to say eg "4 pence please" (when we have had money out in the role play recently, we have found many children saying "dollars" rather than "pence" or "pounds").
