In phonics we are going to focus on a trigraph - igh. We will also be revising all of the digraphs that we have so far introduced and will recap b / d. We are also showing children how to blend longer words, such as "clap" or "pink": although they "press all the sound buttons", we are finding that children blend words like these as "cap", or "pik".
In maths we are getting there with adding by counting on. We will have anotheru week to focus on this, in game situations.
We have whole class and small group times each day where key objectives are introduced and practised. Children then have opportunity to consolidate and practise these skills (and much more) through adult supported play and exploration across the week.
Our book of the week continues to be A Place Called Home. We will be focussing on a part of the story where the children land on the Woolly Woo Wood Planet. To help, could you upload to Tapestry any pictures you have of visits to woodland areas and of any creatures you might find in that kind of environment. As well as linking to the story, this will build on an interest that some of our children developed this week in the tree on the Reception playground. We will share stories about woodland places at story time too - if you have any at home, feel free to send them in for us to share.
