Welcome to 2 Holly!

I'm Mr Dalgleish and I teach 2 Holly alongside Mrs Hewson, our teaching assistant. 

We are always available for a chat at the start or end of the day or you are welcome to contact the office to arrange a meeting. 

PE

Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Please come to school in your PE kit.

Reading

In 2 Holly, we love reading and sharing stories and books as much as possible. We change our home reading books every Friday and we encourage daily reading at home. Those who read regularly are given Dojos to celebrate their hard work.

Spelling and Maths

We also send home spellings to learn on a Friday. These are linked to our phonics/spelling lessons that week. We have a spelling test on the following Friday. Dojos are given out to those who have learnt their spellings. 

Dojos

Children are awarded Dojos for working hard and being kind, caring and polite members of the class. If you don't have access to class Dojo, please ask and I will be happy to help. 

Look What we've been doing...

Summer Term 

This term we are learning about Bangladesh and living things and their habitats.

We have played tuned instruments, called BoomWhackers, as part of our music lessons.

Spring Term

Last term we learnt about 'The Monarchy' and 'New Life'.

We took part in an art project where we created paper flowers to be displayed in North Lincolnshire's museums. 

We have been learning our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

We have written a letter from the Dragon to the Paper Bag Princess, inspired by the events in Robert Munsch's book.

We have been looking at portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and have studied the artist Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy. We are learning to create a portrait of King Charles III in her style. 

In Music we have been listening to, appraising, learning and performing a rock song called, 'I wanna play in a band.'

Autumn term

In the Autumn term we learnt about trains and their impact on Scunthorpe. 

We also learnt about Remembrance and Christmas around the World.

In computing we have been learning about algorithms and debugging.

We have enjoyed reading during DEAR time...

Including sharing books with a buddy...

We invited parents to our Inspire Afternoon where we continued our DT project: Designing, making and evaluating a toy car.

In maths we have learnt about telling the time to o'clock, half past, qaurter to and quarter past. 

We have also learnt about comparing coins and counting money.

In art we have looked at the work of artist Susanna Bauer and created a piece of bonfire art inspired by her work.

We visited Scunthorpe Central Mosque to support our learning about Islam.
