PE

Intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of capacity when the body is healthy and strong – J. F. Kennedy

PE is an important subject in school because it increases physical competence, health-related fitness and self-responsibility.  We want to promote an enjoyment of physical activity for all our children so that they can be physically active for a lifetime.  Opportunities to compete in sports within PE lessons aims to build character and to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Physical activity and development begins in our foundation stage, developing fine and gross motor skills, and develops each year through KS1 and KS2. Through excellent teaching, we aim to equip pupils with essential procedural and declarative knowledge to succeed and provide the confidence and resilience which can then be transferred to other curriculum areas and promote their social, moral, and cultural development.  We seek to inspire a lifelong healthy attitude towards physical education in our children.
