Nursery Rhymes

Mem Fox states 'Experts in Literacy and Child Development have discovered that if children know 8 nursery rhymes by the time they are 4 years old they are usually among the best readers by the time they're eight.'

We love joining in with Nursery Rhymes in our Nursery.  We begin our nursery journey every September with a nursery rhyme challenge.

We will spend the first half term learning 10 different rhymes.

If you don't know the rhymes or the tunes then we are here to help you - have a look on Tapestry for the observation named 'Nursery Rhyme Challenge'.

A good way of teaching your children the importance of Nursery Rhymes is to sit together, looking at the gifted Nursery Rhyme book and joining in the rhymes together.

Whilst children are learning the rhymes you can miss words out and ask them to fill the words in....for example....'Twinkle twinkle little ........., how I wonder what you ........'

We hope you enjoy this special time learning rhymes with your children - if you have any questions or require any help then please speak to any member of Nursery staff.
