• Year 4 Beech anti-racist messages

  Our children were inspired by the actions the community had taken to cover up the racist gaffiti on Marcus Rashford's mural in Withington, Manchester.  Year 4 Beech decided to create their own wall of anti-racist positive messages.  They invited me to have a look at it and the class spoke so eloquently and passionately about the world they want to live in where there is no racism.  

  

• Change to Infant school meals for the next 4 school days

  Dear Nursery, Reception, Year and Year 2 Parents and Carers,

   

  Unfortunately one of our kitchen staff at the infants has tested positive for Covid 19 so all the cooks in the infants are having to isolate at the moment.  We wish them a speedy recovery.  They should be back on Wednesday next week.  The kitchen has been cleaned and the local authority catering team have sent a skeleton relief staff to makes the lunches, supported by our Junior cook and her team.    

   

  Because of the reduced staffing, on the next four school days (Thu, Fri, Mon and Tue) there will only be a sandwich option for the infants.  There will be a choice of 4 sandwich fillings; Tuna, chicken mayo, ham or cheese as well as a salad pot, a vegan roll and then a cake/biscuit/muffin.  Please can you talk to your children about the offer so they are ready to make their choice each day.

• End of year plans and plans for the new school year

  Dear Parent and Carers,

   

  Thank you for bearing with us whilst we finalise our plans for the end of this year and for the new academic year in September 2021.  Apologies that it is such a long email but there is a lot to sort out.  We are looking forward to getting back to a new normal again in September.

   

  Transition plans

  • Unfortunately, due to bubble closures and staff being off because their own children are having to isolate we have had to cancel the push-up morning we had planned on the 14th July 2021.  We are aiming that all teacher and TAs will be meeting their new children at some point.
  • We are doing the ‘Meet your teacher’ slides that will go on the school website again, like we did last year.  Children said how much they’d liked looking at these.  I’ll let you know when they’re on.
  • Mr Dalgleish has been busy making videos again showing you where each child is to go in a morning – again they’ll be put on the school website.  I know parents found these very useful last year.
  • Reception and Year 2 children are being made familiar with their new building currently.
  • Those children that need a bit of extra support preparing for September are getting it.

   

  Summer works

  • Over the summer holidays the juniors will still be decorated and re-carpeted.
  • The cleaners will be doing their normal deep clean.

   

  School books

  • All children will bring their school books home before we break up.  Please send in a named carrier bag for them to put them in.

   

  School start and finishing times and procedures

  • Staggered starts and finishing times will end as we break up in July.
  • All children will start school at 9.00am and should be sat down ready to work at this time.
  • The gates will be opened at 8.45am for children to through to their classroom, going straight in at this time.
  • We will use these routes (videos will be on website shortly showing children which way to go);
    • Reception round side of infant building, going past the main infant doors.
    • Nursery, Y1 & 2 through Mickey Mouse Gates onto infant playground and through to their classroom.
    • Y3 Oak and Holly, Y4 Holly, Y5 Holly and Beech through gate to the left of the main junior door.
    • Y3 Beech, Y4 Oak and Beech, Y5 Oak and all Y6 through the gate to the right of the main junior door.
    • No junior children parents to go through those gates.  They should drop off and collect children from the front of the junior building.
    • Infant parents should drop off outside the classroom door, not entering the school building.
  • Registers will be taken between 8.45am and 9.05am, closing it at 9.05am.
  • All children will finish at 3.15pm and should leave the school premises swiftly.
  • Bikes and scooters must not be ridden on the school premises.
  • The car park gates will be locked between 8.40-9.15 and 3.00-3.15.  

   

  Breakfast Club

  • ​This will go back to normal, open for Reception to Year 6 children from 7.45-8.45am, they will be taken to their classrooms at 8.45am.

   

  Lunchtimes

  • We will go back to using the hall for all children in Reception to Year 6, having a full school menu again.  The menu will be sent out before we break up.
  • Nursery children will eat their lunch in their building – we will be offering a grab bag option as a school lunch or bring their own sandwiches so this can be eaten picnic style.
  • All Reception and Year 1 children must have a school dinner (paid for by the Government - Universal Infant Free School Meal).  Next year all Reception, Year 1 and 2 children must have a school meal.   

   PE

  • We will go back to normal having 2 PE sessions a week – one indoors and one outdoors.
  • Y1-6 can come in school PE kit on their PE days but this kit MUST be the school PE kit colours.  No crop tops, football shirts, etc.  Children can come in normal uniform and change if they or parents would prefer. 
  • PE kit photos and requirements are on the school website on the Useful Information -  School Uniform page.  PE kit is:
    • a white, full length T-shirt
    • navy blue jogging bottoms
    • navy blue shorts and trainers
    • royal blue school jumper, hoody or cardigan

   

  Uniform and Hair

  • You are able to purchase this at www.myclothing.com
  • An updated price list is on the school website.
  • Children’s hair should continue to tied up.

   

  Extra-curricular clubs

  • We are hoping to start these back up in September.

  • This will be open as normal again, but we do ask that parents try and be as organised as possible to help them be able to get on with their work.

• A letter from the Education Secretary to education leaders

  Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has written to education leaders to thank them for their effort and work over the course of the pandemic and to break down some of the ways in which the move to Step 4 of the Government's roadmap out of the pandemic will reduce restrictions on the sector. 

  Thank you for the huge effort that you have put into providing face to face and remote education for children, pupils and students during the pandemic, and the incredible work of your inspirational teachers, lecturers and wider educational staff. I recognise that this has been a very challenging year and am continually impressed with, and immensely grateful for, the tremendous work in ensuring that early years settings, schools, colleges, universities and out of school settings have been able to ensure children and young people continue to receive the best education and childcare possible.

  I am pleased to tell you that many of the key restrictions on education and childcare will come to an end as we move to Step 4. The Department for Education has set out more detail and published new guidance for these arrangements covering both the summer period and the autumn term (links provided below).

  I recognise how much planning and organisation you have put into keeping children and students in bubbles over the last year. From Step 4, you will no longer be asked to keep these groups, which will once more enable flexibility in curriculum delivery and the provision of extra-curricular activities.

  I appreciate the protective measures you have put in place over the last year. Over the summer and for the autumn term, in order to balance the risks to health and education, some of these, including enhanced hygiene and ventilation, will remain in place. However, face coverings will no longer be advised for pupils, students, staff and visitors either in classrooms or in communal areas, and social distancing will no longer be necessary.

  I am also pleased to be able to say there will be no restrictions on the approach to in-person teaching and learning in higher education (HE) providers (unless students are advised to isolate or impacted by local outbreaks). We expect HE providers to offer students a full, enriching and enjoyable experience while staying as safe as possible.

  I know that contact tracing has been a difficult, additional task for you this year and am grateful for all your efforts, especially at weekends and during holidays, in tracing close contacts. From the 19 July, NHS Test and Trace will take on the role of contact tracing from schools, colleges and early years settings. NHS Test and Trace will also continue the role of contact tracing for out-of-school settings. From August 16th, those under the age of 18 years old will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Instead, children, or their family members, will be contacted by Test and Trace, informed they have been in close contact with a positive case and advised to take a PCR test.

  18 year olds will be treated in the same way as children until 4 months after their 18th birthday to allow them to have the opportunity to get fully vaccinated.

  The way that secondary schools, colleges and universities were able to stand up effective on-site testing, and encourage students to test at home, is another testament to the professionalism and hard work of educational leaders and staff this year, and I am truly grateful for this. As we move out of restrictions, testing remains important.

  I also want to encourage all teachers, educational staff and eligible students to get their vaccines. It is incredibly important for all adults to get the second dose of the vaccine as soon as they are eligible, so they secure the strongest possible protection against Covid-19.

  In line with wider changes to isolation from August 16th, if in close contact with someone who has tested positive, fully vaccinated staff will be able to remain in their setting from the Autumn term.

  We will of course continue to keep these measures under review, in partnership with health experts and informed by the latest scientific evidence and advice.

  

• Our Covid 19 plans as restrictions lift

  Dear Parents and Carers,

   

  As you will be aware the Government have laid out more plans on Monday evening about lifting restrictions on 19th July 2021.  They have done this knowing that many schools, colleges and universities will have started their summer breaks by then but we don't finish until 22nd July 2021.  Therefore we will continue will all the measures currently in place until we break up.  This includes mask wearing, etc. 

  When the children return in September 2021 we will have removed bubbles, staggered starts and end of the day, mask wearing and many of the other restrictions (unless the guidance changes again).

   

  Bubbles and isolation periods will not end until the 16th August 2021, so we have to continue closing bubbles and children isolating if there is a positive case in their class until we break up.  This is why we will continue our precautionary measures until we break up. From 16 August, children under the age of 18 years old will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test & Trace as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Instead, children will be contacted by NHS Test & Trace, informed they have been in close contact with a positive case and advised to take a PCR test.

• New classes for September 2021

  A letter will be emailed out today to inform parents of the new classes for September 2021. The letter can also be found on our website under the News & Events- Letters tab.

   

  Please note, current Reception and Year 2 children will be bringing home an enveloped letter, stating which class they will be in as these have been restructured.

   

  Current Nursery and new to school Reception children will be receiving a separate pack informing them of their new class and further information about September, so please keep a look out for this soon.

  The Parent Plus eClinics, is a free app for all North Lincolnshire parents/carers of children and babies 0-5, and the 11-19 eClinic for all young people in North Lincs.
