Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Year 5 Parents,
I wanted to let you know how incredibly proud of our Year 5 children we were at the Workers' Memorial yesterday. The theme for the national day this year was 'Make safe and healthy work a fundamental right' , the children talked about the UN CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD, read a Dr Seuss humorous poem about the workplace and sang the well loved hymn 'When I needed a Neighbour'. Following the service, we walked across the road to the Workers' Memorial stone in Central Park, following a bagpiper, watched whilst representatives laid wreaths at the stone and held a minutes silence. It was very moving.
Our children's behaviour was impeccable, they performed their pieces brilliantly, and they were incredibly respectful during the service. It was a real honour to accompany them and they are a credit to you as parents.
Last night I received an email from Councillor Tony Gosling, who organises the service, please see this below.
Best wishes

Dear Anna and Bruce
A massive thank you to the young people of year 5 Berkeley Primary school who have once again been magnificent at the Workers Memorial Day event.
From the performance to their conduct and behaviour each and every young person was a credit to the school and their parents.
Many of the comments I receive afterwards are praise for the school saying they are the highlight and make the event.
Well done to everyone at Berkeley Primary School who really do steal the show year after year.
It is an honour and privilege to be able to work with you all.
Well done
Regards Tony
Dear Reception to Year 6 Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to be able to invite all parents to an ‘Open Classroom’ event here at school on Wednesday 4th May from 3.15pm, finishing at 4.00pm. We really hope that parents are able to join us.
Parental involvement in school is something that we have really missed over the last few years. Because we have needed to do our parent consultation on the phone, and not in person, the children and staff want parents to be able to come in. You will be able to have a look at their books and the lovely work they have been doing, look around their classroom and meet the teacher.
Please collect your child as normal at 3.15pm and then make your way to their classroom. Infant parents, please access your child’s classroom through the door the children normally enter/exit from. Junior parents, please make your way through the gates your children enter/exit from and access your child’s classroom through the door the children normally enter/exit from. If you have several children, please go to each class, ensuring you have time to do them all before 4.00pm.
We look forward to seeing you here at school.
We have been organising our extra curricular activities for this term. We are offering a variety of enrichment activities for the children, trying to cater for a range of interests and age groups. I am sure that you will join me in thanking our great team for giving up their own time to volunteer to run these clubs for our children. The list of clubs available this term are on the reverse of this letter.
If your child would like to join a club then please log on to your ParentPay account where the clubs available for this term will be listed for you to select. To make this process fair you MUST ONLY select ONE club for your child. If you select more than one your child will be cancelled from all clubs selected.
Booking opens from Monday 25th April at 3.45pm where you will then be able to view and book your child onto a club. As there are limited places at each club, places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If a club is full then the ParentPay system will not let you book onto a club. If you have yet to use ParentPay and need your login details, then please call in at the school office.
All clubs will start from Tuesday 3rd May and will run until Friday 1st July. Please note, the last session for Judo will be on Tuesday 21st June.
Gooch Judo will continue their sessions on a Tuesday. There is a £2 charge for this per week, £14.00 for the full term. There will also be a cost of £1.00 per week, £8.00 for the full term, for the Art club to cover cost of materials. Payment for the full term must be made via ParentPay at the point of booking. Please note, once payment is made, this is non-refundable so should your child be absent from school or no longer wants to go to the club, we are unable to refund this back.
Once a child has signed up for a session, we do ask that children stay committed to their activity for a term and attend each week. If for any reason they are not able to attend, please can you ensure that the activity leader is made aware.
As always, Infant children will need to be collected at the end of their after school activity. We recommend that Junior children are also picked up from their activity, but this is parental choice. Please ensure you are punctual. Please indicate whether your Junior child will be collected or allowed to walk home on the ParentPay system when booking onto a club.
