We enjoy DEAR Time ('Drop Everything and Read') sessions, towards the end of each school day to foster a love of books and an enjoyment of reading. During this time, we listen to our teacher or a Secret Storyteller read to us, read to a buddy or talk about books that we have enjoyed reading to make recommendations to others.
So far, in DEAR Time, we have read some poems and some of Kenny and the Dragon by Toni DiTerlizzi. Although this book has some fabulous illustrations, we didn't really enjoy the story so we have decided to read a Viking adventure story instead.
