Mosque Trip
On the 12th and 14th December, we visited Scunthorpe Central Mosque as part of our RE unit on Islam.
The Imam welcomed 4 Holly, 4 Beech and 4 Oak us in and then explained the significance of the different items inside the mosque. The children listened intently and learnt about the different prayer times, and how prayers are carried out and deciphered several verses from the Quran that are handwritten on the walls.
At the end, the children asked some great questions and the Imam explained about Hajj and the five pillars that underpin the Islamic faith. He was also able to give his own personal experiences about his pilgrimage to Mecca which the children found fascinating.
