Virtual Author Visits

ian eagleton

This was a really exciting event for us to watch. Year 5 and 6 enjoyed hearing all about the importance of representation in children’s literature.

Ian told us all about the LGBT+ History Month as well as discussing his journey to becoming an author and telling us all about his great book, Glitter Boy.

A.F.Steadman

The children really enjoyed this live by author, A.F.Steadman. She was telling us all about how she came up with some really complex and fascinating characters and storylines for her book, Skandar and the Unicorn Thief. The children then loved creating a new unicorn; just the way A.F.Steadman does.

beth lincoln

Our lovely year 2 children really enjoyed the live meeting with Beth Lincoln where she talked all about her book, 'The Swifts'. Mrs Fowles said that they were inspired by her tips on how to become an author and had a go at creating their own book characters after the webinar.

Sarah Ann Juckes

The lovely author Sarah Ann Juckes did a wonderful virtual author talk to discuss her new book, 'The Night Animals'. This book is Waterstones Children's Book of the Month for February 2023. The children were then encouraged to create some of their own night animals and they did us proud!

Tom Palmer

We were very lucky to be able to take part in the Live Meet with the brilliant author, Tom Palmer. He was working with the lovely Sarah Tipler, down at Glanford Park, and gave lots of schools the chance to listen to him talk about his book, After the War. This book is all about holocaust survivors and the stories they had to tell after the war had ended. He spoke very movingly about the characters and it was a privilege to listen to him. We were then lucky enough to listen to him read an extract and then be able to ask him some questions! A really enjoyable morning!
