Pupils are not permitted to have mobile communication devices upon their person in school. Mobile communication devices include mobile phones, wearable mobile phones in watch form, tracker watches and tablets that are a communication device.
We recognise that our older pupils may walk on their own to and from school and parents may wish them to have a mobile communication devices for emergencies. Pupils are taught that they should not have a mobile communication device on their person in school and that any device brought in must be handed to the office for the duration of the day.
We accept that most staff will own a mobile communication device and have one in their possession during the school day. They may be used during break and should be on silent during teaching sessions.

On the 26.1.26 Bridget Phillipson (Secretary of State for Education) sent all schools an email 'Strengthened guidance on mobile phones in schools', that schools should be a phone-free environment for the entire school day. This is our policy already, so nothing has changed for us. Please note in particular the paragraph from Bridget below;
"I have always been clear that mobile phones have no place in schools - I know many of you feel the same. But it is clear that the previous guidance did not deliver the clarity or consistency that schools need, or help enough in setting out for parents that this is a clear national position. That is why we have strengthened it to be explicit - all schools should be phone-free environments for the entire school day. That includes lessons, time between lessons, breaktimes and lunchtime. It means, for example, it is not appropriate for phones to be used as calculators, or for research during lessons."
