We appreciate that parental separation is a challenging time for families. Research and experience have shown that separated parents can become particularly estranged, especially during the initial stages of the split. This is very often traumatic for any children concerned and unfortunately these personal family problems can have an impact on the schools the children attend. Our aim is to minimise any impact on the welfare and learning of a pupil.
Please talk to school if you would like to talk to us about anything (contact Alison Neall - our Family Worker).
Cafcass (on behalf of the Ministry of Justice) has course and set of resources for parents to help them think about how to prioritise their children’s needs while they are separating. Planning Together for Children combines e-learning, group work and online support for parents involved in private law family court proceedings.
Please see the below with some useful tips for parents to consider.
Please read the policy below which aims to clarify to all parties what is expected from separated parents and what can be expected from the school and its staff.
