Christmas Events
We are really looking forward to all of our Christmas Celebrations this year. The children will be doing lots of lovely Christmas activities in class too. Please read the information below regarding all Christmas Events that are coming up here at school. All the dates below are on the school calendar on the website.
Christmas Card Post Box
From 2nd December, there will be a Christmas Card Post Box in the Nursery, Reception, Infants and the Juniors. The children are welcome to post their cards to be delivered to their friends and teachers in this box. Please can you ensure that they have the child’s full name, year group and class on to help our post people get them to the right person.
Christmas Wrapping Morning
Father Christmas would like a little help with wrapping the presents, as his elves are so busy already. We would like to ask if there are any parents or grandparents who feel they can give us an hour or two of their time on the morning of Wednesday 3rd December to help, starting at 8.50am after dropping off. We will provide the wrapping paper, scissors and sellotape. You will be rewarded with a mince pie, beverage, some Christmas tunes and good conversation. If you are able to help please contact the school office. We will meet at the junior site.
Christmas Lunch & Jumpers
Christmas lunch is a lovely opportunity for the school staff and children to celebrate Christmas together. Lunch for all year groups will be on Friday 12th December. Children can also come to school wearing their Christmas Jumpers on this day.
A Google form will be sent to you shortly via text/email so you can let us know if your child will be having the lunch. Please complete this by Friday 28th November. After this date, no other numbers will be added as the food will be ordered. Please complete one form for each child.
If your child does not want a Christmas Lunch or one hasn’t been ordered for them before 28th November, they will need to bring a packed lunch on this day as there will be no other options.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 are covered for this lunch by the Universal Free School Meals. All other years, the cost of the meal is £2.80; this will be paid for by the usual Parent Pay System. Please ensure your child has enough funds in their account on the day of Christmas Lunch.
Christmas Lunch Menu
Mains: Roast Turkey or Quorn Roast
Sides: Roast Potatoes, Sausage Bite, Stuffing, Carrots, Peas and Gravy
Dessert: Vanilla Christmas Shortbread
Christmas Concerts
We are delighted to invite you to our Christmas Carol Concerts this year. The children are all working really hard to make the concert festive and entertaining; we hope you will be able to join us at this event.
A letter will be coming out shortly for you to reserve tickets for your child’s concert. Unfortunately, due to fire regulations we are only able to offer 2 tickets per family for the concert. We look forward to seeing you there.

Christmas Parties
Each year group will be having a Christmas Party. We would like the children to come to school in their party clothes on their party day and wear them all day.
We would appreciate you helping with food for the parties. The children will be having a normal school dinner on their party day, but some treats for the parties would still be appreciated. Please could you send the treats in with your child on their party day and they will be distributed for the children to share. We request that you make sure there are no nuts in anything you send to ensure children with allergies are safe. School will provide drinks, cups and plates. This year we are asking for;

Last Day of Term- Friday 19th December
The last day of term will be Friday 19th December. All children can come to school in Christmas Jumpers/ Non-uniform on this day.
This year our school will be supporting Children in Need by taking part in a Non-Uniform Day on Friday 14th November.
(For Nursery children, this will be on Monday 17th November)
Children will not need to wear school uniform on this day; they can come to school in their own clothes or anything Pudsey/ spotty themed.
A suggested donation of £1.00 would be gratefully received which will be sent to the Children in Need charity.
Thank you for your support.
To mark the start of Anti-bullying week, on Tuesday 11th November we are asking children and adults to come to school wearing odd socks. This year’s theme is Power For Good a theme that empowered us to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.
Every year, everyone is encouraged to wear odd socks as it is a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique in Anti-Bullying Week! There will be an assembly to introduce the theme, explain what it is and what we can do to combat bullying. By equipping students with the skills to recognise power dynamics and encourage respect for each other's rights, we can foster an environment where everyone feels that they belong, are safe and valued.
Children will also be engaging in some fun activities to get them talking and thinking about bullying scenarios and encourage them to stand up and speak out against bullying.
Faye Marshall
PSHE Lead
During the last week before October Half Term, children will be celebrating Harvest in school and giving thanks for what we have.
Like previous years, we will be collecting non-perishable foods (tins, packets, pasta, rice etc.) for the Scunthorpe Food Bank, who support families in our area. Your donations will be gratefully received.
Please kindly send any donations to the school with your child between now and Thursday 23rd October.
Thank you for your support.
The school photographer will be visiting school on Tuesday 7th October 2025 to take an individual school photograph of your child. Like previous times, once we receive the proofs, we will send these home for you to purchase if you wish.
School Uniform will need to be worn by all children on this day. If this is normally your child’s PE day, please do not send them in their PE Kit. Children will still participate in a PE activity, but one which can be completed in their school uniform.
Cross Country Fun Run
Monday 29th September 2025
We are excited to announce our upcoming in house Cross Country Fun Run.
This will take place in the afternoon of Monday 29th September for children in Years 1 to 6. (Weather permitting)
We are inviting the children to run wearing fancy dress. This of course is optional. Please don’t feel the need to go out and buy an outfit- you can just make use of what you already have at home, whether it’s a full fancy dress costume or just some accessories they can put on.
Children can come to school wearing their fancy dress costume all day on this date. However, if your child’s costume is quite extravagant, they may want to get changed after lunch. If your child does not want to wear fancy dress, they can come to school in their sportswear all day. All children will need to ensure they have their trainers to run in.
Though this event is a fun run for all to enjoy, there is a competitive element too as the junior children who place high, will be invited to take part in the Cross Country Championships next month.
Best wishes
Mr S Leek
PE Coordinator
Dear Reception to Year 6 Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to be able to invite all parents to an ‘Open Classroom’ event here at school on Wednesday 8th October from 3.15pm, finishing at 4.20pm. We really hope that parents are able to join us.
You will be able to have a look at their books and the lovely work they have been doing, look around their classroom and meet the teacher. If you would like a private, lengthier conversation, please ask to book a meeting.
Please collect your child as normal at 3.15pm and then make your way to their classroom. Infant parents, please access your child’s classroom through the door the children normally enter/exit from. Junior parents, please make your way through the gates your children enter/exit from and access your child’s classroom through the door the children normally enter/exit from. If you have several children, please go to each class, ensuring you have time to do them all before 4.20pm.
For your diary, Parent Consultations will be Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th February 2026.
We look forward to seeing you here at school.
We have been organising our extra curricular activities for this term. We are offering a variety of enrichment activities for the children, trying to cater for a range of interests and age groups. I am sure that you will join me in thanking our great team for giving up their own time to volunteer to run these clubs for our children. The list of clubs available this term are on the reverse of this letter.
If your child would like to join a club then please log on to your ParentPay account where the clubs available for this term will be listed for you to select. To make this process fair you MUST ONLY select ONE club for your child. If you select more than one your child will be cancelled from all clubs selected.
Booking opens from Monday 8th September at 4.00pm where you will then be able to view and book your child onto a club. As there are limited places at each club, places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If a club is full then the ParentPay system will not let you book onto a club. If you have yet to use ParentPay and need your login details, then please call in at the school office.
Clubs will start from Monday 22nd September and will run until Friday 28th November. If your child is attending an ‘invitees only’ club then please refer to your letter for exact running dates for that club.
Gooch Judo will continue their sessions on Thursdays in the Junior Hall. There is a £3 charge for this per week.
There will also be a charge for some of the other clubs that require resources or clubs that support staff run, as we need to cover the cost of their extra working hours. Please see the reverse of the letter for the cost per term for each club. Payment for the full term must be made via ParentPay at the point of booking. Please note, once payment is made, this is non-refundable so should your child be absent from school or no longer wants to go to the club, we are unable to refund this back.
Once a child has signed up for a session, we do ask that children stay committed to their activity for a term and attend each week. If for any reason they are not able to attend, please can you ensure the school office is made aware.
As always, Infant children will need to be collected at the end of their after school activity. We recommend that Junior children are also picked up from their activity, but this is parental choice. Please indicate whether your Junior child will be collected or allowed to walk home on the ParentPay system when booking onto a club. Please ensure you are punctual when collecting your child at the end of the club. Should you be late on more than one occasion then your child will unfortunately not be able to attend the club.
