• School is open as normal tomorrow

  The whole school will be open as normal tomorrow, the heating is fixed and back on. The school dinner tomorrow will be the special one planned for today. Many apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

• Junior School closed on Thursday 16.1.20

  Berkeley Primary will be closed to Junior (Y3-6) children tomorrow. We currently have no heating in the junior building. We have been trying to resolve this issue today but haven't been able to.  We are hoping to sort the issue tomorrow and open as normal on Friday. 

   

  We apologise for any inconvenience and understand how difficult it is for parents to organise alternative care for their children.  Making the decision to close school is never taken lightly.  

   

  We will send a text message tomorrow and keep this website up to date with any further developments.  

   

  The infants will be open as normal.

  Four pupils from Year 5 visited the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield today. They had a tour of the centre and also participated in a range of Future Star Workshops.

   

  

• Brilliant Christmas Dinners!

  Many thanks to all the kitchen staff for cooking us all an amazing Christmas dinner.  Both kitchens cooked about 300 dinners each and it tasted brilliant.  I don't know how they do it and still have a smile on their face at the end of the day.

   

  I know they really appreciated the good manners the children showed when choosing their meal and the many thank yous afterwards.  

  

• The Snowman - Year 1

  I had the pleasure of joining Year at 20-21 to watch The Snowman, accompanied by a live orchestra.  The children looked all cosy in their pyjamas and dressing gowns.  Sue Hollingworth (music lead in Scunthorpe) taught the children how to sing the iconic 'Walking in the Air' and it was a really magical experience.  The children and adults loved it.

• Sickness and diarrhoea

  We currently have a lot of children off school with sickness and diarrhoea.  The latest guidance from the NHS Public Health Agency states that children should stay off until 48 hours from the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea.  Please ensure you telephone us on 01724 867065 to inform the school your child will be off and every 48 hours afterwards.

• Inclusive football

  I had the pleasure of taking 6 children to the Inclusive Football tournament today.  The children joined in with skills sessions and football games against other schools.  Many thanks to Get Ahead and the Scunthorpe United coaches for organising a great afternoon.  I was so proud of our children, they worked so hard all afternoon, showing great tenacity and team work - brilliant attitudes from all.
