  • After School Clubs Summer Term 2025

    Fri 25 Apr 2025

We have been organising our extra curricular activities for this term. We are offering a variety of enrichment activities for the children, trying to cater for a range of interests and age groups. I am sure that you will join me in thanking our great team for giving up their own time to volunteer to run these clubs for our children. The list of clubs available this term are on the reverse of this letter.

If your child would like to join a club then please log on to your ParentPay account where the clubs available for this term will be listed for you to select. To make this process fair you MUST ONLY select ONE club for your child. If you select more than one your child will be cancelled from all clubs selected.

Booking opens from Monday 28th April at 4.00pm where you will then be able to view and book your child onto a club. As there are limited places at each club, places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If a club is full then the ParentPay system will not let you book onto a club. If you have yet to use ParentPay and need your login details, then please call in at the school office.

Clubs will start from Tuesday 6th May and will run until Friday 27th June. If your child is attending an ‘invitees only’ club then please refer to your letter for exact running dates for that club.

Gooch Judo will continue their sessions on Thursdays in the Junior Hall. There is a £3 charge for this per week.

There will also be a charge for some of the other clubs that require resources or clubs that support staff run, as we need to cover the cost of their extra working hours. Please see the reverse of the letter for the cost per term for each club. Payment for the full term must be made via ParentPay at the point of booking. Please note, once payment is made, this is non-refundable so should your child be absent from school or no longer wants to go to the club, we are unable to refund this back.

Once a child has signed up for a session, we do ask that children stay committed to their activity for a term and attend each week.  If for any reason they are not able to attend, please can you ensure the school office is made aware.

As always, Infant children will need to be collected at the end of their after school activity. We recommend that Junior children are also picked up from their activity, but this is parental choice. Please indicate whether your Junior child will be collected or allowed to walk home on the ParentPay system when booking onto a club. Please ensure you are punctual when collecting your child at the end of the club.  Should you be late on more than one occasion then your child will unfortunately not be able to attend the club.

  • VE Day Celebrations

    Fri 25 Apr 2025

    VE Day Celebrations

    Thursday 8th May 2025

Dear Reception to Year 6 Parents and Carers,

We will be celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe) in school on Thursday 8th May.  We will remember and honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom. It’s a vital moment in history that shaped our nation. To celebrate, during the day we’ll engage in activities that teach our children about resilience, unity, and the importance of peace. We hope you can join us in remembering this significant day.

    VE Day Themed Non-Uniform

We are inviting the children to take part in a VE Day themed non-uniform day. Ideas of costumes could be army wear, evacuee dress, dress from the 1940s, medics or wearing the colours red, white and blue. Please don’t feel the need to go out and buy an outfit for this – there are lots of ideas for creative costumes online that make use of what you may already have at home.

    Picnic Lunch- Parent Invite

The school lunch on Thursday 8th May will be a picnic style lunch and if good weather, all children will be sitting out on the field to eat it. If you would like your child to have the picnic lunch, then please select this the normal way via ParentPay. Please note, this will be the only school lunch option on this day so any junior children who do not want this, will need to bring their own packed lunch. Please note, all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children will be having the picnic lunch.

We are delighted to invite all parents to attend the picnic lunch too. Parents will have lunch with the children on the field (parents to bring own packed lunch and a blanket) and also listen to the children sing the VE Day song by the British Legion and join in with the National Anthem. Parents are invited from 12.00pm-12.45pm. If you would like to join in with the celebrations then please:

    - Arrive at school promptly for 12.00 noon with your own packed lunch.

    - Please wait in the carpark area outside the junior school office.

    - Junior parents will be directed to the field via the gate near the junior school kitchen.

    - Infant parents will go to the field via the gate near the bike shed in the car park.

    - The gate between the two fields will be opened up so infants and juniors can mix together.  If you have an infant child, please go onto the infant field and ask your junior child to come to you when they come up onto the field – staff will be around to help.

-Parents are encouraged to join in with the dressing up too.

    - The gates will then be locked at 12.10pm. Please note, if you are late then you will not be able to gain entry.  This is for security reasons.  You will need to stay until 12:45 as the gates will not be opened until this time.

Unfortunately, if it is raining on this day then parents will not be able to attend and the children will eat their picnic lunch inside – we won’t have room for parents too. Fingers crossed for good weather!

    Picnic Lunch Menu:

A choice of sandwiches – Ham, Chicken Mayonnaise, Tuna or Cheese

Mini Quorn Sausage Roll and Crudités

Scone with Jam or Raspberry Jelly Pot

    A drink will be provided

We look forward to seeing you here at school on 8th May and enjoying the celebrations.

(Please note, Nursery children will be having a VE Day themed Non-uniform on Wednesday 7th May)

  • Non-Uniform Day Friday 4th April 2025

    Fri 14 Mar 2025

    Non-Uniform Day- Friday 4th April 2025

This year our school will be supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital by taking part in a fundraising event for ‘The Children’s Hospital Charity’. We have chosen to do this as some of our children at our school have received specialist care from the teams there and are now thriving.

We will be holding a Non-Uniform Day on Friday 4th April to help raise funds for this wonderful charity.

Any donations would be gratefully received.

    Thank you for your support.

  • EID Celebration in school- Wednesday 2nd April 2025

    Thu 13 Mar 2025

    EID Celebration in School

    Eid Mubarak to everyone!

Eid is an extremely special celebration for Muslims as it marks the end of Ramadan and is known as the "Festival of breaking fast." It’s a joyful time spent with family and friends, celebrating Eid with the people you love, eating a lot of food (mainly desserts), and thanking God for all of the love and strength Muslims have been given. On this day, many people sit down to a feast with family and friends, wearing their best attire, and donate money before going to the mosque. For many children, this is a celebration to look forward to; many are spoiled with new clothes, treats, gifts, and money. We hope you have a lovely Eid!

We will celebrate EID in school on Wednesday 2nd April.

Each class will have a party on this day. We would also like the children to come to school in their special clothes/ party clothes and wear them all day.

    We would appreciate you helping with food for the parties. The children will be having a normal school dinner, but some treats for the parties would still be appreciated.  Please could you send the treats in with your child on this day and they will be distributed for the children to share. Please ensure there are no nuts in anything you send to keep children with allergies safe. School will provide plates but please ensure your child brings a drink with them in their water bottle. This year we are asking for;

    • The boys to bring in savoury items, preferably vegetarian and no pork products if possible (for example pakoras, vegetarian sausage rolls, cheese bites, crisps,)
    • The girls to bring in the desserts (for example cakes, buns, biscuits, chocolates)

Thank you for your continued support and we hope the children enjoy celebrating this occasion.

  • Comic Relief 2025

    Wed 12 Mar 2025

    Comic Relief 2025

This year our school will be supporting Comic Relief on:

Wednesday 19th March for Nursery children.

Friday 21st March for children in Reception to Year 6.

We are inviting children to dress in anything red/ non-uniform on this day.

A suggested donation of £1.00 would be gratefully received.

  • D&T for future!

Fri 07 Mar 2025 Iryna Fowles

Today we had a special D&T assembly at school. We learnt about the opportunities for our future and professions that are available in our local area that involve the skills we learn in our D&T lessons. We were all inspired by Mrs Cole, who shared the information about her career choice. Girl or boy, we can all be successful in D&T and become first-class designers, engineers and technicians!

  • Big Talk Education- March 2025

    Fri 28 Feb 2025

To keep children as safe as possible Relationship Education is now statutory in all Primary Schools. To help us deliver this curriculum, we are engaging the support of the specialist organisation BigTalk Education, who are a Social Enterprise recognised by national lead bodies and Government.

They work with 3yr olds upwards and have been involved in delivering age-appropriate Relationship Education for over 20 years.

Below is some information on the Growing Up Safe programme that will be delivered to the Children.

    • Age 3 (Nursery). A fun learning environment where the children are taught: the differences between boys and girls; naming body parts using the correct scientific words; the private areas of the body; and the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touches.

    • Ages 4 to 6 (Reception School Years 1 & 2) Re-enforces the information that was covered in Nursery.  Using specially designed, child friendly resources and in a calm, open and fun environment, the children are taught how to identify happy situations within relationships, and those which may be risky (e.g., other children or adults taking improper photographs of them, inappropriate touches, exposure to unsuitable media etc.) Throughout the session children are encouraged to join in and reassured that they have people that they can talk to if they are worried.

    • Ages 7 to 8 (School Year 3) A fun learning environment where the children are taught: the differences between boys and girls, naming body parts using the correct scientific words, and the private areas of the body. Using specially designed child friendly resources and in a calm, open, fun environment, children will be able to identify happy situations within relationships, and those which may be risky (e.g., other children or adults taking improper photographs of them, appropriate and inappropriate touches, exposure to unsuitable media etc.) Throughout the session children are encouraged to join in and reassured that they have people that they can talk to if they are worried.

    • Ages 8 to 9 (School Year 4) We build on the Year 3 information and also cover different kinds of families, similarities and differences between boys and girls. We also include the emotional and physical changes of growing up (puberty), how babies are made, then develop in the womb etc. (reproduction). Also discussed is, how to look after our bodies and be safe and healthy.

    • Ages 9 to 11 (School Years 5 & 6) Reproduction and puberty are re-capped, the children are given the opportunity to ask questions. As well as additional clarification on puberty, they will often want more details on how babies develop and are born. It is important that they know there is someone in school as well as at home if they want help, advice or more information etc. (Information at this stage is vital to protect them as they move onto Secondary School and to provide an alternative information they may find on the internet.)

All the resources BigTalk Education use are age appropriate and help keep children protected from unwanted touches, abuse, and exposure to unsuitable images etc.

Further information on the above can be found on: www.bigtalkeducation.co.uk/parents

The new Parent presentations https://www.bigtalkeducation.co.uk/year-by-year/ are on our website The password to access the presentations is: KeepingSafe

In addition, “Bodies, Babies and Bellybuttons” is the Big Talk book which accompanies the Growing Up Safe programme. This is a great resource for parents and can be ordered online from www.bigtalkeducation.co.uk on our Resources page.

Should you require any further information Big Talk Education can be contacted on admin@bigtalkeducation.co.uk.

If you have any queries regarding the above information and would like to discuss this with someone from school, please do not hesitate to contact me via email on admin.berkeleyprimary@northlincs.gov.uk

  • World Book Day 2025

    Fri 14 Feb 2025

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 6th March, and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion. World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading.

Reception to Year 6 will celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 6th March.

Nursery will celebrate World Book Day on Monday 3rd March.

We are inviting the children to come to school dressed up as any character from their favourite book. We are not following a particular theme so this can be anything you would like it to be! Please don’t feel the need to go out and buy an outfit for this – if you have a look on the World Book Day website, there are lots of ideas for creative costumes that make use of what you may already have at home.  https://www.worldbookday.com/resource/dressing-up-ideas-for-parents/

Nurseries, schools and libraries across the UK celebrate World Book Day with a huge range of events and activities. Your child will also receive a £1 book token – sponsored by National Book Tokens. You can join us in building your child’s enthusiasm for books well beyond World Book Day by reading together regularly and joining your local library if you are not yet members. For more information about World Book Day and ideas on sharing books at home, visit worldbookday.com. Children are never too young to start their journey with books, and the benefits of reading are enormous - so we hope, like us, you will use World Book Day to celebrate it with your child.
