The junior children were inspired and delighted to meet Katherine Copeland MBE when she came to school today, to talk about her triumphs and how she got there, in assembly this morning.
Katherine won the Gold medal in the Women's Lightweight Double Sculls rowing event at the 2012 London Olympics, with her team mate Sophie Hosking. She brought her beautiful medal in to school to show the children.
After the assembly the Year 5 and 6 children got stuck in to a cooking workshop with 'Cook School', making the most delicious samosas. The children learnt new cooking skills and got to taste ingredients many hadn't tried before. The children showed great listening skills and team work.
Many thanks to Aldi for sponsoring the event, which was organised to celebrate the opening of the new local store.
Berkeley Primary will be closed to Junior (Y3-6) children tomorrow. We currently have no heating in the junior building. We have been trying to resolve this issue today but haven't been able to. We are hoping to sort the issue tomorrow and open as normal on Friday.
We apologise for any inconvenience and understand how difficult it is for parents to organise alternative care for their children. Making the decision to close school is never taken lightly.
We will send a text message tomorrow and keep this website up to date with any further developments.
The infants will be open as normal.
Four pupils from Year 5 visited the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield today. They had a tour of the centre and also participated in a range of Future Star Workshops.
